While these lights are designed for use with 9-foot umbrellas, they may be used with umbrellas up to 11 feet. The difference is that the strings will not reach the tips of the ribs on the 11-foot umbrella.
A white plastic strip attaches the battery pack to any pole, including aluminum. The battery pack is white, as is the wire that attaches it to the light. To turn off the lights, simply unplug the battery pack. You can expect to enjoy these lights for 2 to 3 years.
