This wood-burning firepit is constructed with 3-mm-thick cold-rolled steel for maximum durability and features an appealing natural rust finish. This fire pit includes a stainless steel spark screen, cooking grill, fire poker, and a vinyl cover. The bowl measures 24 inches across and 13.5 inches in depth, allowing plenty of room for five average-sized pieces of firewood.

Remember to add a 1- to 2-inch layer of sand to the bottom of the pit to increase the life of the fire bowl

This fire pit is treated with a protective rustic patina finish. Occasionally the patina finish may rub off onto hands, rugs, or other surfaces it comes into contact with. Once the first fire is burned, the finish will etch into the steel and become part of the protective finish. At this time, if you wish to clean off the excess patina material on your fire pit, simply scrub lightly with water and a soft nylon brush then hose off any excess and let dry. Over time, this finish will darken to a beautiful burgundy color.
If you plan to use your fire pit on a wood deck, we recommend placing it over a protective pad or paving stones which can be purchased at your local hardware store.

Wasn't sure about the SoJoe since it didn't have wheels on it for moving it around. The ring is perfect for moving it around. It simply requires a second person to do so. It is also a nice footrest once the flames settle back a bit. Setup couldn't have been simpler. Attach the 3 legs and you're done. Very sturdy and beautiful unit. The fire dances through the cutouts in the sides. Even the pit cover is very thick and hardy. We have had the SoJoe for about 3 weeks and just had our 9th fire tonight. Our back yard has quickly become a gathering place for friends and neighbors. As for firepits.com, they are awesome. [...] You will not be dissapointed with this firepit.

I live in MA and so far it's been too cold and rainy to sit outside. However, we had a terrible winter of ice storms that left lots of debris in the yard. We've been using the firepit to burn a lot of the sticks and boughs that fell. With the domed screen, it is easy to control sparks, a really nice feature. We also love that it came with a cover to keep out the spring rains up here. When we're done burning the scrub, we've thrown a nice hardwood log on and let it burn down so as to grill our supper. The grill feature is great and reminds me of when I was a kid and camped with my family. All in all, I think I'm looking forward to a great summer of sitting by my new firepit. A few neighbors have dropped by to tell us how beautiful it is and asked where we got it. I'm spreading the news.
