              You can't put up an umbrella in a windstorm. That is my advice to the person who's broke. I put mine up yesterday in NC (note we were having strong hurricane winds today). However, because I retracted and tied my umbrella, it is still sitting there pretty as can be. Great umbrella and the tilt mechanism works really nice. Great for us short people.

Please note that no umbrella is wind proof and your umbrella should always be lowered in wind squalls, gusts, and other severe weather situations. Only the pole of this umbrella is aluminum. The ribs are made from fiberglass for flexibility.
