For this reason, this umbrella is recognized by the Skin Cancer Foundation as an effective UV protectant. The clamp at the end of the zinc-plated pole will attach to nearly any horizontal or vertical surface. It's ideal for use with your favorite beach chair. This umbrella does NOT work if the arms on your beach chairs are fabric. My fold-up beach chairs have fabric arms, so there is nothing to attach the umbrella clamp to. You would have to have chairs w/ good, solid plastic or wooden arms to make these umbrellas work.
